Before & After Care for PMU

Permanent cosmetic enhancements require a touch up perfecting session. To achieve the best results, you will be required to return for at least one touch up procedure six to eight weeks after the initial application. Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure, your color will be chosen with this in mind. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals. This process can take up to 14 days. You can start preparing your skin to have its best result by doing the following:

• DO NOT take Aspirin, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary/advised, 72 hrs prior to your procedure. Tylenol is fine.
• DO NOT work out 24 hrs prior to your procedure.
• AVOID sun and tanning two weeks prior to your procedure.
• Discontinue Glycolics, Retin-A, St. Johns Wart, or Retinol products 4 weeks before the scheduled appointment.
• DO NOT use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure.
• You MUST halt all Accutaine use 6 months prior.
• If you've had any cosmetic surgical procedures done on the face area, please wait TWO MONTHS to fully heal prior to the eyebrow tattoo procedure.
• DO NOT consume any alcohol and/or caffeinated beverages 24 HOURS before the scheduled appointment. This will prevent any excess bleeding, oozing, and minimizes swelling during procedure.
• Drink plenty of water leading up to your procedure to ensure your skin is hydrated and in the optimal condition to receive pigment.
• If there are any open wounds, pimples, bruises, or any other skin irritations on the area; please wait for them to be completely healed before attending the scheduled appointment. Please contact immediately if rescheduling is necessary due to this matter.
• If you wax, thread, or tint your eyebrows, do so at least one week before your procedure (If needed, your artist will shave excess hair)
• No facials or chemical peels a week prior to the appointment.
• Purchase a gentle foaming  hand soap, like dial or Cetaphil.
• Shower/wash your hair day prior, or day of your appointment You want to keep eyebrows very dry during healing. A shower now gives you time before next needed wash.
• Change your pillow case, ensure that it is clean/clear of any bacteria.
• You may arrive with your daily makeup and brows done the way you like them. Your artist can then see your everyday look and see what style, color, and shape you are most comfortable with. 

After your PMU procedure appointment you will be given an after care kit with everything you need for optimal results.  Following the after care protocol will significantly affect your results. You took the time and money to enhance your beauty, be sure to take proper care and follow all guidelines given to you by your artist. Here is what you can expect from the healing process: 

• For the first few days, brows will appear dark and very defined before the flaking / natural exfoliation phase. The thickness will subside gradually as the days go by.
• You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area, this is quite normal and will subside within 12 hours. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping, you can gently blot with a clean tissue or gauze for the first couple hours. 
• Redness, swelling, and stinging is normal and should completely subside by the following day. If the area feels unbearable for certain individuals who have low pain tolerance, please use a clean ice pack for comfort, being careful to keep the brows dry.
• Four healing phases: 1-heal, 2-peel, 3-fade, and 4-resurface.
• Once the brow area starts to peel, it will appear flaky and unappealing. The area may feel a bit dry. Do not pick, scratch, or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss.
• Once all flakes have naturally and fully fallen off completely or naturally exfoliated, healed results should appear 30-40% lighter in color and 10-15% smaller in size from the initial. Consider keeping brows out of the sun to prevent the color fading.
• Everyone heals and accepts the pigment differently. retention is dependent on your skin, post care, and lifestyle.
• When you leave Chevelon Brow Bar, your brow tattoos are intact; that is the job of the Artist. There ARE NO GUARANTEES made as to how you and your body will heal them. This is why the after care protocol is vital. NO one knows how your skin will heal. This is a potential risk all clients take when consenting to this procedure.
• You ARE NOT a good candidate for microblading if you have LARGE pores (Large pores on your forehead & in the brow area) or Oily/Severely Oily Skin, your results WILL appear softer/solid, blurry, or powdered looking. Pixelblading is then recommended.
• If you sun bathe often, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, Retin A/Retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided post care, the longer it will last.
